During a working visit to Baku, the leadership of Zhubanov University participated in a roundtable of rectors from Kazakhstani and Azerbaijani universities and the "Study in Kazakhstan" education fair. Additionally, meetings were held with leaders of Azerbaijan’s top universities to discuss key areas of collaboration.
At the roundtable, Sayasat Nurbek, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, signed an agreement with the Higher Attestation Commission under the President of Azerbaijan to establish a joint list of scientific publications.
As part of this agreement, Zhubanov University Rector Laura Karabasova met with the Rector of Baku State University, one of Azerbaijan's leading higher education institutions. The meeting focused on strengthening the editorial boards of scientific journals, exploring opportunities for student academic mobility programs, faculty exchanges, joint research in Turkology, participation in archaeological expeditions, implementing a dual-degree master’s program, and engaging Azerbaijani scholars as international supervisors for doctoral dissertations.
Another important meeting took place between Zhubanov University and the Institute of Archaeology, Ethnography, and Anthropology of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan. Rector Laura Karabasova discussed key areas of cooperation with Institute Director Farhad Guliyev. The discussions covered doctoral and master’s research internships, joint archaeological expeditions with students and scholars, the study of Hunnic heritage and Early Iron Age nomadic cultures, and collaborative projects on the shared history of Turkic peoples. A plan was also initiated to implement joint research projects within the framework of the international "Horizon" program.
At the "Study in Kazakhstan" fair, Zhubanov University representatives introduced Azerbaijani students to the academic opportunities offered by the university, including the Aktobe campus of Heriot-Watt University.
