Combating drug addiction – a shared responsibility of society
Today, Zhubanov University hosted a meeting between students and representatives of the Aktobe Region Police Department, along with specialists, including psychiatrists, addiction counselors, and theologians.
The primary goal of the event was to prevent drug addiction and educate young people on ways to protect themselves from illegal activities related to drug possession and use.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Berik Aysin, Head of the Drug Crime Prevention Department of the Aktobe Region Police, highlighted the unfortunate involvement of young people in drug trafficking.
– "Despite ongoing efforts to combat drug addiction and trafficking, this issue remains a significant challenge for society. Unfortunately, young people often fall victim to the schemes of those offering easy money through social networks and Telegram channels. The law in this area is very strict—possession and transportation of narcotic and psychotropic substances carry severe criminal penalties," he stated.
Tastanbek Razak, a theologian and Head of the Ansar Information and Analytical Center, emphasized that drug use is harmful not only physically but also morally, religiously, and socially. He urged young people to lead a conscious and purposeful life. Aydyn Rysbekova, a psychiatrist and addiction counselor from the Regional Mental Health Center, explained the detrimental effects of drug addiction on a person’s life and stressed the importance of making the right choices and focusing on positive life values.
During the meeting, students asked questions and exchanged opinions on issues that concern them.
