STATE AND PUBLIC FIGURE

Kudaibergen Zhubanov was born in 1899 in Kosuaktam village of Mugalzhar district of Aktobe region. As a child, he was trained by the village mullah, studied the Arabic-Persian language and added to his knowledge with his studies. 

He was exposed to European culture through the Russian language when he studied at the Husayniya madrasah in Orenburg in 1914, and had the opportunity to learn about Eastern culture and education while attending a Russian school with two grades. He began his first labour activity in the field of education and science as a teacher of Aktobe pedagogical school, methodologist-inspector of Aktobe provincial department of public education, then as a professor of the first higher education institution of Kazakhstan-KazPI, head of the Kazakh language and literature department, dean of the philological faculty. In 1929, he continued his studies in the Turkology Department of the St. Petersburg Institute of Oriental Languages, and then in graduate school, where he established himself as a talented Turkic scholar. Being a professor at the Institute, the polyglot scientist K.Zhubanov was the head of the department, head of the sector of linguistics of the Kazakh branch of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, chief editor of the “Academic Dictionary of the Kazakh Language”, member of the board of the People’s Commissariat of Education of the KazSSR and head of the sector of methods, programs, teaching aids at this institution, chairman of the State Terminology Commission, editor of the bulletin of the Terminology Commission, member of the Academic Council of the Institute of Culture of Nations, chief editor of the magazine “The village Teacher”.He actively participated in the improvement of the Kazakh alphabet and writing translated into Latin script.At that time, there was a lack of talented people like K. Zhubanov who performed so many duties by himself.
