Students contribute to improving the university campus
Students of the Biology educational program at Zhubanov University are combining theoretical knowledge with practical application by contributing to the landscaping and beautification of the university campus. Together with their supervisor, Sarbynaz Eshmuratova — head of the greenhouse and an experienced agronomist — the students are cultivating various flowering and vegetable plants.
Sarbynaz Eshmuratova reported that the flowers grown by the students are now ready to be planted around the university grounds in the coming days.
“During practical lessons, students grew different types of perennial and annual flowers. Among the perennials are cannas, calla lilies, chrysanthemums, and roses, while the annuals include clematis, marigolds, and other varieties.”
In addition to flowers, the students also planted vegetable crops and herbs such as lettuce, dill, parsley, and mint.
According to the greenhouse supervisor, this project plays a significant role in building the students professional experience.
“This work goes beyond beautifying the campus. The students have learned agrobiological skills such as identifying plant characteristics, proper care techniques, soil management, and seasonal planting. This is their first real step as future specialists, working in harmony with nature,” said Sarbynaz Eshmuratova.
It is worth noting that flower planting is scheduled from May 1 to 10 in key locations around the university, including the main building, the Heriot-Watt Aktobe campus, the Student Palace, the sports complex, the Youth House, and student dormitories.
