Realizing cooperative researching project with Chinese scientists

The university named after K. Zhubanov, together with the University of Science and Technology in China, has started a new science project. The project is being implemented with the grant support of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan and is aimed at creating new fire-resistant and durable plastics. These materials will be applied  in wind energy, shipbuilding, construction and transport.

In the project, international researchers who have come to Aktobe for this specific purpose are working together with the University’s laboratory. Xin Wang, a PhD (Associate Professor with an h-index of 68), and Yanbei Hou (a Professor with an H-index of 34) are both internationally recognized experts in their fields. The project is coordinated by the Laboratory of Polymers and Composite Materials under the supervision of Professor Amirbek Bekeshov. Scientists are investigating the incorporation of minerals such as basalt, ocher and diorite in the composition of plastics in order to enhance their strength and fire-resistance. Additionally, the potential for preliminary optimal material selection using artificial intelligence techniques is being explored.

The rector of the University, Laura Karabasova, familiarized herself with the work carried out in the lab and exchanged opinions with the scientists. The university head emphasized the importance of applied science.

"It is necessary to influence the development of the real sector by introducing new materials into production," the rector said.
