Students’ startup goes to market: Zhubanov University project enters the oil industry and is introduced into production
Students of Aktobe Regional University named after K. Zhubanov, Ramzan Abdyllyn and Roman Sokolov, developed a monitoring system for production facilities.
The system is designed for continuous tracking of equipment conditions, timely identification of malfunctions, and prevention of emergency situations. It allows real-time collection of data on pressure, temperature, well production, and the status of facilities, processes this information, and provides analytical reports. Special analytical tools and an interactive map help managers make effective decisions, while offline mode is available for remote fields.
The project by young developers quickly attracted the attention of representatives of the oil industry. JSC “KMK Munai” decided to implement the system into its production and acquired the project, while preserving copyright for the students. This demonstrates recognition of their professional efforts and marks their first real step into a major industry.
The head of the project, Aliya Kayypova, noted that the work in this direction will continue:
“We are planning to launch another project, adding elements of artificial intelligence to this system. A special program has already been developed. It covers the entire process, from storage to transportation and the end user. Although it has not yet been implemented in the company, the groundwork is ready,” she said.
This successful initiative demonstrates the concrete implementation of the Head of State’s instruction on “strengthening the links between leading universities and the real sector.”
The university leadership emphasized that the successful commercialization of a student project is a vivid example of effective integration of science and business.
Overall, Zhubanov University pays special attention to supporting students’ startup ideas and bringing scientific discoveries into production and business. For this purpose, a special department was established to develop connections between researchers and the real sector. So far, this unit has built partnerships with small and medium-sized businesses and successfully implemented two commercialization projects.
