In the Era of Artificial Intelligence, the Main Value of a University Is Academic Integrity

As part of the Digital Bridge 2025 international forum held in Astana, a panel session titled “Higher Education in the Era of BigTech and Artificial Intelligence: New Models of Training” took place.
The event brought together rectors and experts from leading universities, as well as representatives of the digital industry.

During the discussion, Rector Laura Karabassova addressed the topic of the impact of artificial intelligence on the education system, emphasizing the importance of academic honesty.

“In an era when information is easily accessible and ready-made content is abundant, the main value lies in students’ independent thinking and commitment to academic integrity.
The core mission of universities should be further strengthened in this direction,” — said the head of the university.

The speaker also noted that in today’s world, the “monopoly” on education is gradually shifting from traditional universities to large technological companies and open educational platforms.
She drew attention to the fact that this situation not only creates new challenges for universities, but also opens up new opportunities.

During the panel session, participants discussed ways to develop higher education in a changing environment, innovative training models, and the new role of universities in the age of artificial intelligence.
The discussion within the framework of Digital Bridge 2025 once again highlighted the importance of adapting Kazakhstani universities to global trends and implementing new educational models.
