From Science to Market: Forum Discusses Technology Transfer and Innovation Development
As part of the International Forum of Strategic Partners «Kazakhstan – The Territory of Academic Knowledge,» a series of plenary and panel sessions, as well as roundtable discussions, were held to address issues of digitalization, academic mobility, transnational education, innovation, and technology transfer.
A key focus of the forum agenda was the integration of science and business.The session «From Science to Market: Technology Transfer» was moderated by Gulzat Kobenova, Vice Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and brought together heads of research institutes and universities.Speakers discussed the commercialization of scientific developments and effective collaboration with industrial partners.
During the plenary session, experts exchanged views on building sustainable innovation ecosystems, strengthening links between science and industry, and expanding international cooperation in the fields of technology and education.Among the speakers were K. Angelieva, Executive Director of the International Science and Technology Center (Bulgaria); E.M. Isakayev, Rector of M. Kozybayev North Kazakhstan University; Professor J. Pyun of the University of Arizona (USA); and N. Marshall, expert of the Royal Academy of Engineering (UK).
In addition, a dedicated discussion focused on issues related to student life and well-being.Akerke Ablaikhan, Deputy Chairperson of the Committee for Higher and Postgraduate Education of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, led a panel session where university representatives presented initiatives to enhance psychological and social support systems for students and to prevent destructive behaviors.
The outcomes of the forum confirmed Kazakhstan’s growing role as a regional hub for academic and scientific cooperation.The development of strategic partnerships with leading universities worldwide contributes to building a sustainable innovation ecosystem aimed at improving the quality of education and advancing the nation’s human capital.
