Wind Energy – the Power of the Future: Plenitude Kazakhstan CEO Delivered a Guest Lecture at Zhubanov University
Today in Aktobe, Federico Pugliese, CEO of Plenitude Kazakhstan, delivered a guest lecture at the Heriot-Watt University Campus of K. Zhubanov Aktobe Regional University.
The lecture was dedicated to the topic «Plenitude Kazakhstan’s Experience in the Field of Renewable Energy.» During the meeting, the speaker provided students of the Electrical Power Engineering program with a detailed overview of the complete operational cycle of a wind power plant and its technical processes.
The Badamsha-1 and Badamsha-2 wind power plants, located in the Kargaly and Khromtau districts of the Aktobe region, are currently among the main sources of electricity in the region. With a combined capacity of 96 megawatts, these facilities were among the first wind farms in Kazakhstan financed through private investment. Equipped with modern General Electric turbines, the stations generate hundreds of millions of kilowatt-hours of clean, renewable energy each year.
Plenitude Kazakhstan, which implemented these projects, is currently working on the launch of the Shaulder Solar Power Plant with a capacity of 50 MW, as well as a hybrid energy project in the Mangystau region.
During the lecture, students asked questions about the engineering aspects of wind and solar power generation, local workforce training, and career opportunities in the “green” economy.
The speaker emphasized the importance of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering programs offered at the Heriot-Watt University Campus in Kazakhstan, noting that studying in English enables future engineers to remain competitive on the international stage.
It should be noted that Plenitude Kazakhstan is a subsidiary of Eni, specializing in renewable energy and decarbonization. The company launched the first privately financed wind power plants in Kazakhstan and continues to develop solar and wind energy projects with a total capacity exceeding 200 MW.
