Scientists from Zhubanov University introduced the first Kazakh-language applications for children with special educational need

In Aktobe, the first innovative Kazakh-language mobile applications for children with special needs — «Сауатты бала» and «Дыбыстар әлемі» — have been developed. This initiative was implemented under the auspices of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan as part of grant funding for 2023–2025 by a team of scientists from Aktobe Regional University named after K. Zhubanov.

The project, led by Associate Professor M. Esengulova, PhD in Pedagogical Sciences, aims to create a comfortable educational environment for children studying at home who have health limitations or low levels of socialization. Its main goal is to develop modern Kazakh-language content to enhance children’s speech, cognitive, and communicative skills.

According to Associate Professor Esengulova, the number of children with special educational needs in Aktobe has increased significantly in recent years. This has led to a higher workload for specialists and a growing demand for accessible digital resources in Kazakh.

As a result, the mobile applications «Сауатты бала» and «Дыбыстар әлемі» were developed, fully equipped with speech therapy exercises, educational games, and visual and audio materials. The pilot period demonstrated that these tools not only simplify teachers’ work but are also highly effective in developing children’s speech skills. During the trial, which involved pupils from the Akbota Special Kindergarten and the Speech Center, it was found that children’s vocabulary, articulation, comprehension of instructions, and coherent speech improved significantly.

The availability of high-quality Kazakh-language content has become an important support for parents, enabling them to systematically carry out corrective and developmental activities at home. According to educators, the applications have provided a new impetus for the digitalization of inclusive education.

The project resulted in a valuable domestic digital product that expands access to education for children with special educational needs. These applications are considered an important tool for developing an inclusive education system, not only in the region but across the country.
