English – A Path to Global Science: Zhubanov University’s Successful Model
Since 2022, Zhubanov University has been offering English language courses aimed at improving the foreign-language proficiency of its teaching staff.
Over the past four years, nearly 400 lecturers and employees have enhanced their English skills by completing this training with professional instructors holding international CELTA and IELTS certifications.
As a result of this initiative, 23 lecturers completed research internships at leading scientific institutions around the world through the "500 Ғалым” (“500 Scholars”) program funded by Bolashak. Among the host institutions were the University of Heriot-Watt, Michigan State University, the University of Minnesota, the University of Reading, and the University of Leeds (UK and USA), South-Western University “Neofit Rilski” and Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” (Bulgaria), as well as Lomonosov Moscow State University (Russia). In addition, more than 40 lecturers were accepted into doctoral programs at national universities of Kazakhstan.
During the 2025–2026 academic year, around 60 lecturers and staff members are continuing structured English-language training under this program. The course will run through May according to the approved schedule.
