Joint Education and Research Projects with International Universities Discussed in Aktobe
Akim of the Aktobe Region Askhat Shakharov met with Vice Minister of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan Gulzat Kobenova, Vice-Chancellor of Heriot-Watt University Richard Williams, and Rector of K. Zhubanov Aktobe Regional University Laura Karabassova.
The meeting focused on the development of education and science in the region, the exchange of international experience, and the strategic development of universities.
The regional head noted that, following the President’s directive, an international campus of the leading British technical university Heriot-Watt University began operating in Aktobe in 2023, with construction progressing at an active pace. On the same day, the distinguished guests took part in the unveiling ceremony of a commemorative plaque for the academic and laboratory building, as well as the opening of the International Research Capacity Development Center established jointly with the University of Minnesota at the regional university.
These initiatives aim to improve the quality of higher education in the region and expand opportunities for young people to gain international academic and research experience.
