Sports Coaching Program Using Artificial Intelligence Developed
An intelligent sports coaching program for individual training based on artificial intelligence and computer vision technology is being developed at K. Zhubanov Aktobe Regional University. The project is being implemented by order of the limited partnership Iron-BARS.
The program analyzes the movement techniques of athletes and amateur sports enthusiasts and selects exercises according to individual physical characteristics. Artificial intelligence algorithms identify movement errors, increasing the effectiveness of the training process.
The scientific supervisor of the project is Adilzhan Kereev, PhD, Associate Professor of the Department of Computer Science and Information Technologies.
According to him, the project is a practical result of interaction between science and real-world practice.
«This AI-based program makes it possible to take individual sports training to a new level. Most importantly, students gain practical experience with modern technologies by solving real production tasks,»- said the project supervisor.
Students of the educational program Computer Engineering and Software Yerlan Aimukanov and Kirill Pilipenko are involved in the implementation of the project.
According to Yerlan Aimukanov, the system is based on real-time human movement recognition using computer vision technology.
« This project allowed us to apply machine learning and data analysis methods in practice. Artificial intelligence can make a real contribution to improving training quality,» - he noted.
Kirill Pilipenko emphasized the broad applicability of the program:
« The system can be adapted for both professional athletes and amateur sports participants. It offers personalized exercise programs based on the user’s skill level,» - the student said.
In his speeches, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has highlighted artificial intelligence as a key driver of scientific and innovative development. According to the Head of State, research and education in the field of artificial intelligence are strategic priorities for the country.
Thus, the project implemented at K. Zhubanov Aktobe Regional University is one of the important initiatives aimed at developing applied research in artificial intelligence and strengthening the scientific potential of young researchers and students in Kazakhstan.
