Kazakhstan’s Higher Education in the International Spotlight: Minister S. Nurbek’s Working Visit to the United Kingdom

As part of the annual working visit of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sayasat Nurbek, to the United Kingdom, a number of regions were visited, including Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, London, as well as several leading universities. During the visit, a special event dedicated to the partnership with K. Zhubanov Aktobe Regional University was held in Edinburgh at the invitation of the leadership of Heriot-Watt University.

The meeting took place at Panmure House, the historic home of Adam Smith. The event, initiated by Heriot-Watt University, brought together rectors and professors from more than ten Scottish universities, along with representatives of the academic community interested in international education and research.

During the event, Minister Sayasat Nurbek delivered presentations on the key directions of higher education development in Kazakhstan and discussed with professors from Scottish universities the expansion of transnational education, academic mobility, and joint research initiatives.

Within the framework of the partnership between K. Zhubanov Aktobe Regional University and Heriot-Watt University, specific proposals were presented to advance international research and education, enhance joint academic programs, and strengthen collaborative research projects.

The meeting served as an important platform for strengthening academic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Scotland, as well as for integrating regional universities into the global educational space.
