Silver University Launches a New Season for Citizens Aged 50+ in Aktobe
Aktobe Regional University named after K. Zhubanov has launched a new season of the Silver University project. The program is designed for citizens aged 50 and over and aims to promote the principles of lifelong learning.
In 2026, 120 participants enrolled in the Silver University project. The average age of participants is 66, while the oldest learner is 79 years old. These figures demonstrate strong social interest in the project and a growing motivation among older citizens to continue their education.
The Silver University project, launched in 2021 within the framework of the “Lifelong Learning” concept, is socially significant and has been successfully implemented. Its main goal is to provide older adults with opportunities to acquire modern knowledge and skills, support their personal development, and encourage active participation in social life.
In the 2026 academic year, participants are offered nine study areas, including Kazakh language, English, digital literacy, financial literacy, legal literacy, togyzkumalak, needlework, resource management and harmony, as well as oriental dance.
The educational program lasts more than three months and includes theoretical and practical classes, master classes, training sessions, and interactive activities. Courses are taught by experienced university faculty members. Upon completion, all participants receive certificates.
Since the launch of the project, more than 350 adult learners have completed training at the university in language studies, digital literacy, sports, and creative disciplines, enhancing their skills and competencies.
