As part of the nationwide initiative «Таза Қазақстан» Aktobe Regional University named after K. Zhubanov hosted a screening of the documentary «Топырақтың алты дюймі».

The screening was attended by Kirri Hendriksen, Head of the Climate and Landscaping Department at the British Embassy in Astana.

The event aimed to enhance environmental awareness among young people, promote responsible attitudes toward nature, and highlight the importance of sustainable land use and environmental protection.

Around 200 students and faculty members participated in the event.

The film presents practical approaches to soil restoration, improving public health, and supporting local communities. Following the screening, a panel discussion was held with the participation of experts and attendees, during which current environmental issues were discussed. Students noted that such initiatives make a meaningful contribution to strengthening environmental awareness, fostering civic engagement, and promoting the principles of sustainable development.

"This event has become an important step in shaping environmental awareness among students and promoting a culture of responsible interaction with nature. The documentary helped participants better understand the importance of rational land use and environmental protection. Such meaningful initiatives contribute to increasing civic engagement among young people and advancing the values of sustainable development. It is important to continue organizing similar educational events on a regular basis,"said Dastan Khusainov, Vice-Rector for Strategic Development and Digitalization of Aktobe Regional University named after K. Zhubanov.

One of the participants, fourth-year student Akbota Koptileuova, also shared her impressions.

“This event was very informative and inspiring for me. The documentary helped me better understand the importance of protecting nature and land resources. Such meetings contribute to raising students’ environmental awareness and developing an active civic position,” she said.
