Month of Science: Experience and New Opportunities for Young Researchers

As part of the Month of Science, a series of guest lectures was held to improve research effectiveness, develop grant potential, and enhance the professional skills of young researchers.

Aliya Kuzhabekova, an international researcher in educational policy and higher education from the University of Calgary, delivered a seminar titled «International and National Grants: From Idea to Success.»

During the seminar, participants were introduced to different types of international and national grant projects, and the specifics of grant funding were clearly explained. The speaker also demonstrated, through practical examples, how to apply for various programs. In addition, the stages of participating in grant competitions—from developing a research idea to turning it into a full project—were discussed. Participants received practical recommendations on preparing strong application materials.

Zhadira Makhmetova delivered a presentation titled «Knowledge Management for Researchers» as part of the PhD Research Seminar Series, sharing her experience in organizing research work and managing knowledge effectively. The talk covered methods for structuring the research process, using information efficiently, and improving the quality of research outcomes.

At the seminar «Effective Time Management for PhDs and Early Career Researchers,» held jointly with Zhuldyz Amankulova from the University of Minnesota, key principles of time management in academia were presented. The speakers discussed effective planning of research activities, setting priorities, and maintaining a balance between research and personal life.

They also covered strategies for breaking down long-term goals into short-term tasks, managing deadlines, and minimizing distractions.

Overall, the series of lectures and seminars helped participants improve their research organization skills, expand opportunities for participation in grant projects, and enhance their professional competencies.
