Foreign scholar shares modern methods of teaching English
A series of academic events was held at Zhubanov University with the participation of PhD, Associate Professor Eva Reid — a specialist in the methodology of teaching English.
The scholar from Slovakia delivered lectures and practical seminars for undergraduate and graduate students of the educational programme "Foreign Language: Two Foreign Languages." During the classes, modern methods of teaching English, CEFR principles, communicative, sociolinguistic and pragmatic competences, classroom management and the professional roles of a teacher were examined. The sessions, organised in the format of model lessons, allowed students to master and analyse effective teaching methods, as well as to apply them in practice through discussions, simulations, role-playing games and problem-based tasks.
In addition, the foreign scholar met with instructors of the "English and German Languages" department and shared international experience. During the meeting, person- and activity-oriented approaches to teaching English, task-based learning, formative assessment, the use of digital tools and artificial intelligence, the application of authentic materials, as well as the development of intercultural communicative competence were discussed.
