Educational program: 7M02302 – Translation studies
The purpose of the educational program is to train highly qualified translators with fundamental knowledge of the basic scientific concepts of modern methodology and theory of translation studies, as well as with high-quality knowledge of the state, Russian and foreign languages as a means of international communication and translation skills.

Functions and types of educational activities:
- Translates scientific, educational, technical, socio-political, economic, and other specialized literature, patent descriptions, fiction, correspondence with foreign organizations, documents from congresses, conferences, meetings, seminars, etc. from a foreign language into native and from native into a foreign language. Performs oral and written, complete and abridged translations, while ensuring that the translations correspond to the lexical, stylistic and semantic content of the originals, and comply with established requirements regarding the scientific and technical terms and definitions used;
- Provides interpretation services during conversations, meetings and other events held with the participation of employees and persons who do not speak Kazakh/Russian. Prepares abstracts and abstracts on foreign literature.
- Participates in the compilation of thematic reviews of foreign literature. He works on the unification of terms, improvement of concepts and definitions on the subject of translated texts, accounting and systematization of translations, annotations, and abstracts. Performs interpretation at the same time as the speaker's speech using special equipment for simultaneous interpretation.
- Does simultaneous translation from a pre-prepared text of the speech or performs simultaneous reading from a pre-translated text. Performs simultaneous translation, while ensuring that the translation accurately matches the lexical, stylistic and semantic content of the translated texts, observing established scientific, technical and other terms and definitions.
During their studies master degree students have the opportunity to participate in international and national academic mobility programs, which provide an opportunity to study at other universities in the Republic of Kazakhstan and at universities in the far and near abroad for one semester.
