The Department of International Cooperation is an integral part of the K. Zhubanov Aktobe Regional University, focused on promoting the internationalization of the university by developing international ties and partnerships, positioning the university in the global educational space, and further integrating into the global educational and scientific community.
The university has more than 74 foreign partners from 22 countries worldwide (USA, Europe, Asia, and CIS countries). The university collaborates with 7 top universities ranked in the world’s top 500, 6 universities under the Erasmus+ program, and 30 foreign universities for implementing the academic mobility program.
As part of agreements with foreign universities, the university has implemented international educational and joint dual-degree programs, conducted joint research activities, organized scientific-practical seminars and conferences, facilitated the exchange of faculty and staff, and developed external academic mobility. Thanks to the academic mobility program, students and faculty of Aktobe Regional University have the unique opportunity to study at partner universities in Turkey, Poland, China, Bulgaria, Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Russia, the USA, and more.
In order to enhance the university's reputation in the academic community, K. Zhubanov Aktobe Regional University has been actively working on entering the global QS World University Rankings for several years. A notable achievement of this effort was the university's inclusion in the QS University Rankings: EECA in 2022, ranking 351st among the best foreign universities, and in the 2024 QS University Rankings: Asia, ranking 601st.
The university closely cooperates with the diplomatic missions of foreign countries in Kazakhstan (embassies of the USA, China, Poland, Turkey, Italy, South Korea, Azerbaijan, and Uzbekistan) and the embassies of Kazakhstan in Turkey and Poland.
Adhering to an "open policy" of international cooperation, the university has become a member of the Bologna Process and the Magna Charta of Universities; the Shanghai Cooperation Organization University Network (SCOU); the Eurasian Universities Association (EURAS); the Association of Asian Universities; the Caucasus Universities Association (KUNIB); and the Scientific and Educational Consortium of the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Kazakhstan.
One of the key areas of cooperation with strategic partners is the development and implementation of joint academic mobility programs, dual-degree education, and the attraction of foreign scholars. The dual-degree program is actively implemented with universities in Poland, China, and Belarus. As a result of one of the dual-degree programs, 6 students majoring in “Physical Culture and Sports” were awarded diplomas of European standard from the University of Economy in Bydgoszcz, Poland. One master's student received a European diploma from Grodno State University named after Yanka Kupala in the specialty of “Prosecutor's and Investigative Activities.”
An important aspect of the internationalization of K. Zhubanov Aktobe Regional University is the program to attract foreign scholars to conduct lectures, practical classes, scientific and methodological seminars, master classes, and round tables. Foreign professors come to the university from leading universities in 15 countries worldwide (USA, Canada, France, Germany, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Poland, Estonia, South Korea, China, Turkey, Russia, Belarus, and others).
The university hosts language centers and laboratories such as the “Confucius Institute,” the “Korean Language Center,” the “Polish Language and Culture Center,” the “Modern Turkic Language Laboratory,” and the “HSK” Chinese Language Testing Center of the Confucius Institute.
K. Zhubanov Aktobe Regional University develops cooperation with international centers, organizations, and foundations from foreign countries: the International Educational Fund for the Chinese Language (China); the German Senior Expert Service (SES) (Germany); the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) (Turkey); the International Student Association (ISSA) (Turkey); the Eurasian Higher Education Summit (EURIE); the American Council “UniCen” (USA); the British Council (UK); the European Commission's Directorate-General for Education and Culture (Belgium); the French Institute of Central Asian Studies (IFEAC) (France); the European Educational Forum (Bulgaria); the Modern Education and Research Institute (Belgium); the National Academic Exchange Agency (NAWA) (Poland); the Erasmus+ National Office in Kazakhstan (Kazakhstan); and the Bolashak International Program Center (Kazakhstan).
