From the history of department
Training of personnel in the specialty “Mathematics” at physics-mathematical faculty is conducting from the day of it was based.
The Faculty of Physics and Mathematics was set up in 1966, simultaneously with the formation of Aktobe Pedagogical Institute. The first head of the Department was Tulegenov Myrzagali Otarovich.
The first 15 graduating students took their “Teacher of Mathematics” diploma in 1970.
The department of “Higher Mathematics” was based in 1968. In 1974, the Department of Mathematical Analysis was created on the basis of this department.
In 1968 “Higher Mathematics” was separated from the department “Elementary Mathematics”, which was changed into the department “Algebra and Methods of Teaching Mathematics” in 1988. The first head of the department was Shibayev Petr Yakovlivich.
In 1996, in connection with the reorganization of Aktobe Pedagogical Institute into K. Zhubanov Aktobe University, and also in connection with the subsequent reorganization of the university, the mathematical departments of the faculty repeatedly underwent transformations.
In different years this department was headed by: R.Yu. Misonezhnik, Zh.A. Sartabanov, Zh.N. Tasmambetov, M.U. Akhmetov, I.T. Tazhimuratov, S.I. Utarbaev, K.K. Kenzhebaev, D.I. Khan, K.Zh. Zhubaev, Ya. Ya. Wedel, T.T. Sheriyazdan, Zh.K. Kaidasov, E.S. Aldanov, A.A. Akhmetov, A.E. Imanchiev, M.A. Tleubergenova. For many years the work was conducted by experienced teachers: K.N. Niyazmagambetov, U.B. Baimagambetov, V.I. Goncharov, A.Sh. Shokayeva, R.T. Alimbayeva, M.T. Tumyshev, V. Shubin, T.T. Pripadsheva, R.M. Beketova, S.A. Myrzabekova, A.Zh. Izbasovа and etc.
From 2013 to 2017 the Department of Fundamental and Applied Mathematics and the Department of Mathematics and Methods of Teaching Mathematics at the Faculty have been working.
The merging of two active Departments into one was organized by Mathematics department in September 2017. Head of the department is a candidate of physical-mathematical sciences, Associate Professor Tleubergenova Madina Almukhanovna.
In 1999, a master's degree program in the specialty 6N0601 – Mathematics was established. Since 2011, the department has been offering master's degree training in the specialty 6M060100 – Mathematics. Since 2016, the department has been training master's students in the specialty 6M010900 – Mathematics. Doctoral (PhD) training in the specialty 6D060100 – Mathematics has been offered since 2015.
The department's academic staff includes 2 Doctors of Science, 12 Candidates of Science, 6 PhD holders, and 2 Master's degree holders.
In the framework of the program of academic mobility, leading scientists of other universities, research and academic institutes of near and far abroad are also involved in the teaching activity.
