Educational and scientific activities
The training of students is carried out by a standard, modular curriculum. The coverage of subjects by the standard curriculum is 100%. During the educational process, various new teaching methods, Modern Literature, lecture halls equipped with interactive whiteboards (excursion studies, geography of international tourism, cartography, Economic Geography, Geography of Aktobe region, etc.).

In order to increase the creative activity of students and pedagogical skills of teachers, teachers of the department use various modern teaching methods in their classes.

On October 2-18, 2018, The Center for International Cooperation hosted an international seminar "world experience in tourism training and management", organized by Gerd Ritthaler, senior expert of the German Senior Experten Service GmbH (SES), in which all teachers of the department took part and improved their skills.
From November 26 to 30, 2018, Master Shumakova G. zh.was awarded in the nomination "innovative teacher" for the "best methodological consultation" at the intra-university methodological week "use of digital educational resources in the learning process: methods and effectiveness", as well as for the participation in the intra-university competition "methodological projects-2019", held on January 23, 2019.
Students of the educational program" tourism " were given a lecture by N. V. Shabalina, associate professor of the Department of recreational geography and tourism of Moscow State University named after M. V. Lomonosov, candidate of Geographical Sciences.
A regular lesson on dual training in the discipline “fundamentals of tourist and local history work” was held at the City Station of young tourists for students of the tourism educational program. The practical skills acquired by students as a result of the joint work of the Department of geography and Tourism and the station make it possible to intensively improve knowledge and skills in tourism activities, in particular in conducting local history work.
The system of dual training introduced into the educational and methodological process of K. Zhubanov AIS is becoming increasingly important in the practical improvement of the theoretical knowledge acquired by students in many specialties. On November 27, within the framework of the methodical week ” from the experience of using elements of the dual training system included in the training process”, planned at the University, the Department of geography and tourism jointly with the City Station of young tourists conducted a master class for 2nd year students of the specialty tourism on the subject “fundamentals of tourist local lore” on the topic “safety in tourism”. Senior teachers of the Department S. Aiguzhina and G. Suleimenova and methodologist – instructor of the station N. Shurenbayev gave students methodological advice on the topic.
Also, together with the practice bases, excursions to The "Wolf waterfall", the Kargaly reservoir, etc.were organized.

On December 5, a master class on the topic” minerals and rocks “was held for students of the” young geologist “circle of the City station of young tourists, organized by the senior lecturer of the Department of geography and tourism of the Faculty of history S. U. Aiguzhina. Students got acquainted with the types of minerals and rocks, strengthened their knowledge. 6B11101-features of the tourism curriculum for 2020-2024: specialty program tourism-major, marketing, minor – translation studies were introduced and the first students were accepted.
In 2021, 3rd year student Kalila Nazgul took 2nd place in the competition of Interuniversity scientific projects on the topic "trends in the development of education in the aspect of natural and Cultural Heritage", held on the basis of Turan-Astana University. 2nd place at the III Republican scientific and practical conference in 2022, scientific supervisor Nurgazina A. The academic mobility program is currently being actively implemented by the Department of geography and tourism. Students of the specialty 6B11101 EP "Tourism" Study under the external academic mobility program at the following universities: Abdrakhman Amina – Kastamonu University, Turkey; Zhumagul Dana – Bydgoszcz University, Poland. Also on internal academic mobility, 2 students of the specialty 6b11101 –EP Tourism (Mambetalina Fariza, Zhenis Aruzhan) studied at the Almaty Technological University. Along with the program of academic mobility of students, the participation of the teaching staff in this program has been established. In the 2021-2022 academic year, aiguzhina S. U., senior lecturer of the Department of geography and Tourism, gave a lecture at the Caspian University of technology and engineering named after sh.
From October 9 to 22, 2022, in accordance with the memorandum between the University and Moscow State University named after M. V. Lomonosov, associate professor of Moscow State University named after M. V. Lomonosov, Ph. D., A. I. Danshin was invited. During this time, practical classes on the discipline" economic, social and political geography of the world "were held for students of the 3rd year of the EP" geography", a seminar on the topic" modern problems of economic and social geography " for the teaching staff of the Department.
From October 2 to October 13, 2023, Dr. David Laurent Denes, PhD, professor at John Vaughan Neumann University, was invited to the Department of geography and tourism. The professor gave lectures to students of EP 6b11101 - tourism in the discipline "Organization of tourist activities" (with teaching English), as well as in the discipline "teaching geography on a STEM basis" in EP 7m01506-geography. In addition to the lecture, the professor gave a guest lecture on the topic "opportunities for studying abroad" to students of the 2-3 courses of geography 6B01506. A scientific and practical seminar on the topic "writing and publishing scientific papers" was held for the teaching staff of the faculty.



From October 20 to November 1, 2025, within the framework of the cooperation agreement between K. Zhubanov Aktobe Regional University and Orenburg State Pedagogical University, an external academic mobility program was implemented. On the basis of the Department of History of our university, 5th-year students of the specialty “History and Social Studies” and a 2nd-year postgraduate student of the Faculty of History of OSPU completed academic training and research internship.
As part of the program, students attended lectures by the faculty members of the Department of History: Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor G.B. Izbasarova; Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor A.L. Perevezentsev; and Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor Zh.S. Begimbayeva.
Professor Izbasarova delivered a series of lectures on the imperial policy toward the Kazakh Steppe, its implementation methods, the administrative-territorial organization after the reforms of the first half of the 19th century, and the reaction of the Kazakh society and elite to these changes.
Associate Professor Begimbayeva introduced the foreign students to the history and diverse educational activities of the Orenburg Branch of the Russian Geographical Society, analyzing the ethnographic department’s programs and guidelines for studying the history and culture of the nomadic peoples of the Orenburg region and the Ural area in the second half of the 19th century.
Associate Professor Perevezentsev conducted lectures on the topics “Modern USA,” “The Personal Factor in History,” and “U.S. Foreign Policy in the Post-Soviet Space.” Students learned about the political system, education, and the role of U.S. presidents, as well as key aspects of relations with countries of the region.
The postgraduate student from OSPU carried out research work in the Department of General History, Archaeology, and Ethnography, as well as in the Department of Modern History at the Aktobe Regional Museum of History and Local Lore.
As part of the cultural program, the guests, together with History Department lecturer R.T. Nasyrov, visited the Aktobe Regional Museum of History and Local Lore, where museum researcher S.R. Iskendirov conducted an informative and engaging excursion.
In addition, together with Associate Professor A.L. Perevezentsev, the Orenburg guests visited the Memorial Museum of Hero of the Soviet Union Aliya Moldagulova. Senior museum researcher S.B. Tazhbenova presented the exhibition and emphasized the museum’s role in preserving the nation’s historical memory.
At the conclusion of the program, the OSPU students were awarded certificates.
