ACHIEVEMENTS

 

In the 2017-2018 academic years, 2nd year students of the specialty “Tourism” A. Albekova, A. Zhalgasova studied under the international academic mobility program at the University of Economics in Bydgoszcz in Poland.  In the second half of the 2018-2019 academic years, 2nd and 3rd year students of the specialty “Tourism” D. Zholaman, A. Bolatova, A. Markabaeva studied at Kastamonu in Turkey.

In 2020, Master of Geographical Sciences A.G. Abdullina graduated from doctoral studies at L. Gumilyov ENU with a specialty 7D011600 - “Geography” on the basis of a targeted grant and was re-employed at the department.

In 2019, a master's program was opened in the specialty 7M01506 - “Geography”. In the 2020-2021 academic year, the first master's students were admitted to the specialty on the basis of a state grant.

 

In 2022, Master of Geography Umirzakova M.Zh. entered PhD doctoral studies in specialty 8D01506 - “Geography” at L. Gumilyov ENU. In 2022, master of pedagogy, senior teacher Shumakova G.Zh., and in 2023 master Seminar E. entered doctoral studies in OP 8D01515-“Geography” at Abay KazNPU. In 2024, senior lecturer of the department A.S. Nurgazina entered doctoral studies in OP 8D01515-“Geography” at the Zhansugurov ZhU.

 

On September 01, 2021, the department accepted a PhD in the specialty “Tourism” by Askarova G.K., in 2022 a Master of Pedagogical Sciences in the specialty “Geography” was accepted by Khamit A.B., in the 2024-2025 academic year a PhD was accepted in the specialty “ Geography" Zhakypova A.Zh.

In connection with the organization of the educational process in a distance format during the pandemic, teachers of the department have completed special IT courses, are certified, and are currently taking additional courses. Teachers also take courses at the online academy of domestic tourism (Kazakh tourism).

In 2020, teachers from the department of “Geography and Tourism” EP 6B11101 – “Tourism” took part in a foresight session on the topic “ATLAS OF NEW PROFESSIONS and competencies of the tourism industry,” organized as part of the Atlas of New Professions project in Kazakhstan.

In addition, from 10/05/2020 to 10/17/2020, the teachers of this EP Aidarova A.Z., Umirzakova M.Zh. successfully completed a course on the topic “Practical skills of a travel agency manager in Kazakhstan,” organized by the Kazakhstan Tourism Association.

  

September 20, 2020 within the walls of ENU named after. L.N. Gumilyov started the XII Republican Student Subject Olympiad in the specialty 6B11101 - “Tourism”, which was organized by the “Tourism” department of the Faculty of Economics.  Based on the results of the Olympiad, the team of specialty 6B11101 – “Tourism” of our university was awarded the nomination “The Most Creative Project”. In 2022, also on the basis of ENU named after. L.N. Gumilev passed the XIV Republican Student Subject Olympiad in the specialty 6B11101 - “Tourism”, where our students showed high results: in the personal competition (Madi Seilzhanov, Kaizullin Azamat) - 1 and 2 places, project defense - 3 place, 2nd place in the team competition.

On April 27-28, 2023, the XV Republican Student Subject Olympiad in the specialty “Tourism” was held at the Karaganda University named after E.A. Buketov, where our students showed good results and won 3rd place in the team competition.

 

 

 

 

December 8, 2023 on the basis of ENU named after. L.N. Gumilyov hosted the VI International Student Olympiad in “Techniques and Tactics of Active Types of Tourism”, where our team ZHUBANOV UNIVERSITY took 3rd place.

 

In the period from April 25 to April 26, 2023, the XV Republican Student Olympiad in GOP 6B014-Training of Geography Teachers was held on the basis of the Pavlodar Pedagogical University named after A. Margulan, where our students (Balgabekov Aidyn, Baibakov Madiyar) took the overall team 2nd place.

According to the Independent Agency for Accreditation and Rating in the “National Ranking of Demand for Universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan - 2020”, the educational program 6B01506 - “Geography” of ARSU named after K. Zhubanov took 1st place among universities in Kazakhstan.

 

Based on the results of 2022, Professor of the Department of Geography and Tourism, Ph.D. Sergeeva Aigul Maksatovna was awarded the title “Best University Teacher” 2022.

In 2023, under the guidance of Professor of the Department of Geography and Tourism, Ph.D. Sergeeva A.M. and teacher of the department Khamit A.B. students of OP – 6B05203 “Landscape Design” took part in a grant project, where the “Sustainablity Living Lab” project won a grant in the amount of: 1,300,000 with funding from Tengiz Chevron. The goal of the project: to create a recreation area for students so that the appearance of the campus looks neat.

 

Achievements

In December 2021, the Independent Agency for Accreditation and Rating of the Republic of Kazakhstan carried out the specialized accreditation procedure ЕP 6B01506 - “Geography”, as a result of which it was accredited for a period of 5 years.

Educational Program 6B11101 - “Tourism” has passed specialized accreditation by KAZSEE for 5 years (03/06/2023-03/05/2028).

In June 2023, the independent agency for quality assurance in education (IQAA) carried out specialized accreditation of ЕP 7M01506-Geography, as a result of which it was accredited for a period of 3 years.

In December 2023, the independent agency for accreditation and examination of the quality of education (ARQA) carried out specialized accreditation ЕP 6B05203-Landscape design, as a result of which it was accredited for a period of 5 years.

In 2017, the undergraduate specialty 5B011600 - “Geography” of Zhubanov University took 2nd place in the ranking of the Independent Agency of Accreditation and Rating of the Republic of Kazakhstan among participating universities. 

The teaching staff has published 6 articles with an impact factor, 5 monographs, 3 textbooks with the stamp of RUMS. Every year, up to 95% of teaching staff undergo advanced training.

Teachers of the department teach classes in English in the following disciplines: “Teaching geography based on STEM”, “Professionally oriented foreign language”, “Geoinformation mapping”, etc. (Abdullina A.G., Umirzakova M.Zh., etc.) .

For many years of work and contribution to the development of the education system and upbringing of the younger generation, the head of the department, Ph.D., Associate Professor Kubesova G.T. awarded with letters of gratitude from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan (12/17/2017).

Senior Lecturer, Ph.D. Abdenov A.Zh. was awarded a letter of gratitude from the Department of Educational Work for his contribution to the development of the “Rukhani Zhangyru” program at the university, 2017.

Senior teacher Aidarova A.Z. awarded the Certificate of the trade union organization of teaching workers of the Aktobe region (09/21/2017).

In 2016, teachers of the department Abdullina A.G., Nurgazina A.S. became the winners of the competition “Student derbes tanymdyk areketin ACT adisteri arkyly uyimdastyru” at the university.

Following the results of the competition “START-UP-2017”, 3rd year student of the specialty “Tourism” Doshtiyarov Adilet received the nomination “Satti business job”, topic: “Coffelino”.

On April 19-20, 2016, the VIII Republican Subject Olympiad in the specialty “Geography” was held at Zhubanov university. The team of our university 2010-2023 took prizes in the Republican subject Olympiads, which were held by leading universities of the Republic, such as Kazakh National Pedagogical University named after. Abai, ENU named after L.N. Gumelev, WKSU named after. M. Utemisova.

According to the Regulations of the Republican Subject Olympiad, the right to host the Olympiad is transferred to the university that takes 1st place. Zhubanov University was given the opportunity to hold the Olympiad in accordance with the plan of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan 2 times: the first time - in 2012, the second - in 2016. 19 teams from 18 universities took part in the subject Olympiad. The subject Olympiad provided participants with the opportunity to practice the skills of their chosen profession. The VIII Republican Subject Olympiad gave a positive result in identifying the level of formation and development of the competence of future specialists for their further involvement in scientific activities and expanding the scientific potential of the country.

In the scientific areas of the department “Tourist-geographical study of the Aktobe region”, “Innovative technologies in teaching geography”, there are scientific circles “Aktobe oblysynyn toponymics”, “Zhas Galym” and the problem group “Innovationlyk Idealar Factories”.

Students of the specialty “Tourism” are members of the scientific circle “Tourist-Elketanushy”. Based on the results of research work of scientific circles, students participate in various international conferences.

As part of the academic mobility program, an associate professor of the department of recreational geography and tourism of Moscow State University named after M.V. was invited to the Department of Geography of the Faculty of History. Lomonosova, Candidate of Geographical Sciences Shabalina N.V.

Sphere of scientific interests of Shabalina N.V.: recreational geography, geography of tourism, management of the tourist and recreational complex, marketing of tourist destinations. Member of the National Academy of Tourism, member of the Russian Geographical Society, laureate of the State Prize of the Russian Federation, Prize of the Moscow Government for his contribution to the development of tourism.

Associate Professor N.V. Shabalina delivered a course of lectures on the discipline “Hotel Management” to 3rd-4th year students of the “Tourism” specialty.

An international scientific and theoretical online seminar was organized and held on the topic “Current problems of tourism development” with the participation of members of the Russian Geographical Society, the National Academy of Tourism of the Russian Federation, the teaching staff of the Department of Recreational Geography and Tourism of M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University, the Department of Tourism of Kazakh National University . al-Farabi, Department of Geography, ARSU named after. K. Zhubanova.

The Department of Geography together with the Chamber of Entrepreneurs “Atameken” and with the participation of Moscow scientist Shabalina N.V. On the basis of the Faculty of History, a round table was held with representatives of the hotel industry of the city of Aktobe on the topic “Problems and prospects for the development of the hotel industry.”

During the round table, issues of service quality, employee motivation, careers in the hotel business, hotel classification, etc. were discussed.

Under the academic mobility program, 6 students majoring in Tourism studied at universities in Latvia, Poland, and China in 2014-2017.

Documents were prepared for the opening of a master's degree in the specialty 6M011600 - "Geography" and sent to the ministry (December, 2017).

In October 2018, specialty 5B011600 - “Geography” successfully passed post-accreditation.

Students of the specialty 5B011600 - “Geography” took 2nd team place at the X Republican Olympiad among students of higher educational institutions, held on April 9-10, 2018 in Karaganda. It was attended by 3rd year students of specialty 5B011600 - “Geography” S. Kuantaeva and G. Zhaiykbay.

Head of the department, candidate of historical sciences, senior lecturer Abdenov A.Zh. and Ph.D., Associate Professor Kubesova G.T. awarded “For active participation in organizing events to improve the status of the state language and its comprehensive development and promotion” with letters of gratitude from the head of the Department of Language Development of the Aktobe Region (12/28/2018).

Associate Professor of the Department, Candidate of Geographical Sciences A. Sergeeva was awarded a letter of gratitude from the Chairman of the Organizing Council “Qazag Geography” K.A. Baigarin for participation in the youth festival “Khan Koryk” (06/29/2018).

Senior lecturer of the department, Ph.D. Suleimenova G.Zh. awarded the “Asyl Ustaz” medal of the International Academy of Sciences “Pedagogy and Innovative Technologies” (Aktobe, 2018).

  

   

 

    

The Department of Geography and Tourism is the organizer of interregional, republican and international scientific and theoretical conferences dedicated to the activities of political workers who left their mark on the history of the region, as well as socio-political phenomena in the region. In 2018, the international youth festival “Khan-Koryk” was held, in which teams from 17 universities in Russia, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan took part, the total number of participants was 130 people. During the festival, places of natural, historical and cultural heritage of the Kobdinsky, Uilsky and Alginsky districts were visited. 

As part of external academic mobility, a 3rd year student of specialty 5B090200 – “Tourism” studied at the Baltic International Academy (Latvia). Also in the 2016-2017 academic year, 3rd year students of the specialty “Tourism” A. Mukhtarova, E. Zholdybaeva were trained at the Economic University of Bydgoszcz, (Poland).

In the first semester of 2017, D. Abdollaeva studied at the Xinjiang University of Economics and Statistics of the People's Republic of China.

In the 2017-2018 academic year, under the international academic mobility program, 2nd year students of the specialty “Tourism” A. Albekova, A. Zhalgasova also studied at the University of Economics in Bydgoszcz, (Poland).

In the 2nd half of the 2018-2019 academic year, 2nd and 3rd year students of the specialty 5B090200 - “Tourism” D. Zholaman, A. Bolatova, A. Markabaeva studied at Kastamonu University (Turkey).

On April 24-25, 2019, 3rd year student of the specialty “Tourism” - Albekova Asem took part in the educational seminar-training “The path to the future begins with yourself,” which was held at the Library of the First President in Nur-Sultan.

And also, In the 2019 - 2020 academic year, students of the specialty "Geography" - Abatova Bakyt, Abdumutali Madina, Amankosov Abay, Asanova Gulzhanat, Abdikalyk Aibek, Bokenova Nurgul, Kalapbaev Madi, Kibatullaeva Aigerim, Orynbasarova Zhadyra, Saikom Biketay took part in all-Kazakhstan distance learning subjects Olympiads and won prizes.

On April 16, 2021, the XIII Republican Subject Olympiad in the educational program “Geography” was held at the Kostanay Regional University named after A. Baitursynov. 21 teams took part in the Republican Subject Olympiad. The Olympiad consisted of 2 stages: Stage 1 - theoretical (online test tasks); Stage 2 - practical tasks. According to the results of the Olympiad, in the individual competition, a student of the Aktobe Regional University named after K. Zhubanov, Gulnura Salamatovna Burbaeva, took 2nd place; in the team competition, the university team (Balgabekov A., Burbaeva G.S.) took 3rd place. Head: Ph.D. , Associate Professor Sergeeva Aigul Maksatovna.

 

From April 19 to April 23, 2021, an examination of the works submitted to the republican competition of scientific research works of students in the specialty 5B011600 - Geography was carried out. Based on the analysis of the research work, the scientific work of a student of the Aktobe Regional University named after K. Zhubanov Tashemenov Kuanysh Nurbergenuly on the topic “Implementation of elements of the “Smart-village” concept in the Aktobe region” took 1st place. Scientific supervisor - Sergeeva Aigul Maksatovna.

From April 28 to April 30, 2021 on the basis of the International Kazakh-Turkish University named after K.A. Yasawi held the XIII Republican Student Subject Olympiad in the field of “Tourism”.  The Olympics consisted of 3 stages: 

Stage 1 - Writing an essay on the topic: “Methods of forming and promoting a national tourism brand in the regions of Kazakhstan”;

Stage 2 - Project defense: “Methods of forming and promoting a national tourism brand in the regions of Kazakhstan”;

Stage 3 - completing test tasks on Techniques and tactics of active types of tourism.

From our university, the “Zhubanov university” team took part in the Olympiad, consisting of 2nd year students of ЕP 6B11101 - Tourism (Ordabaeva Nurayym, Dosmyrza Dana, Audanbay Nurtileu) and 3rd year students of ЕP 5B090200 - Tourism (Seilzhanov Madi).  Leaders: Sergeeva Aigul Maksatovna, Omirzakova Miroslava Zhambylovna.  Based on the results of the Olympiad, the team of Aktobe Regional University. K. Zhubanova took 3rd place.

 

“Tourist and local historian” took 3rd place in the “Best Club” category.

On November 10, 2020, at a gala event dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the university, the rector of the university, Professor Erdembekov Bauyrzhan Amankeldievich presented the medal “Veteran of Labor of the Aktobe Regional University named after K. Zhubanov” to the veteran of the department of “Geography and Tourism” Kazhiakbarova Zoya Omargazievna and the anniversary medal “85 years of Aktobe Regional University named after K. Zhubanov” to the head of the department of “Geography and Tourism” Abdenov Aidyn Zhaksanovich.

 

On the eve of the 85th anniversary of the university, 4th year student of the specialty “Tourism” of the Faculty of History Diana Spanova and 3rd year student of the specialty “Tourism” Zhusup Nuria were awarded the “Uzdik Student” badge for outstanding achievements.

 

On November 19, 2020, at a gala event dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the university, the rector of the university, Professor Erdembekov Bauyrzhan Amankeldievich presented the medal “For Merit in the Development of the University” to teachers who made a significant contribution to the education of students, G. T. Kubesova, A. Z. Aidarova A.Z. And also, in honor of the 85th anniversary of the university S. U Aiguzhin., A. M. Sergeeva, M.Zh. Omirzakov were awarded letters of gratitude from the rector of the university.

  

Aktobe regional organization of the Kazakhstan branch trade union of education and science workers on the eve of Teacher's Day and the 85th anniversary of the Aktobe Regional University named after K. Zhubanova, teachers of the Department of Geography and Tourism Shumakova G.Zh., Nurgazina A.S. were awarded with letters of gratitude and certificates worth 50 thousand tenge.

In April-May 2021, on the basis of ARU named after. K. Zhubanov held the competition “Best Project of Zhubanov University”. The purpose of the competition is to support and develop business initiatives and social activity of university teachers and students. According to the results of the competition, the “Social Art” project of 1st year master’s student ЕP 7M01506 – Geography Eleuov Nursultan won in the “Creative Project” nomination. As part of the competition, financial support will be provided for the implementation of the best projects.

In March-May 2021, the university held a competition “The best base for professional practice - Creating future”. The university's industrial practice bases took part in the competition. According to the results of the competition, the practice bases of the department “Geography and Tourism” took the following prizes:

* Station for young tourists - 3rd place

* Secondary school No. 39-2nd place

In addition, the department of “Geography and Tourism” received the nomination “Best department for organizing teaching practice.”

Based on the results of 2022, Professor of the Department of Geography and Tourism, Ph.D. Sergeeva Aigul Maksatovna was awarded the title “Best University Teacher” 2022.

Congratulates students - geographers with a 2nd degree diploma!

On April 24-25, 2025, the 17th Republican Student Subject Olympiad in the direction “B014-Training of Geography Teachers” was held at the Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University (Kyzylorda).The purpose of the Republican Olympiad is to identify and support the creative potential of gifted students in the direction “B014 - Training of teachers in geography”, as well as to contribute to the formation of their intellectual capital. 

According to the results of the Olympiad, the team of students from OP 6B01506 Geography of Aktobe Regional University named after K. Zhubanov took 2nd place  (2nd degree diploma). The team of our university lost only to Abai Kazakh National University among 18 universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Participants of the Olympiad are 3-rd year students Baibakov Madiyar, Myrzagul Bekzat. Scientific supervisor – Associate Professor of the Department of Geography and Tourism, Candidate of Geographical Sciences Kubesova G.T.
