The history of the Department of Russian Philology and Intercultural Communication mirrors the history of K. Zhubanov Aktobe Regional University, one of the leading universities in Western Kazakhstan. Founded in 1966 and undergoing several stages of reconstruction, it merged with other departments representing the core disciplines of classical humanities education. Currently, it serves as a model department of academic continuity, focused on addressing new scientific and professional challenges.
In 1966, the Department of Russian and Foreign Literature was one of the first to be opened. V. N. Smirnova, Candidate of Sciences, was the Head of the Department. Over the years, the department was headed by I. Ya. Sulkovsky, Candidate of Sciences, N. V. Adorova, Candidate of Sciences, A. A. Zernyukova, Candidate of Sciences, E. S. Afanasyev, Candidate of Sciences, P. I. Zimmerman, and K. B. Urazaeva.
In 1966, the Department of Russian Language was organized. The first head of the department was the first rector of the Aktobe Pedagogical Institute, PhD in Philology and Associate Professor Pavel Stepanovich Shchetinin. Over the years, the department was headed by K. T. Krinova, L. E. Tegay, A. N. Novoselova, PhD in Philology E. A. Zhigareva, and PhD in Philology M. Zh.
In 1983, the Department of Russian Language was established in national schools. Its first head was V. A. Shcherbakova, PhD in Pedagogical Sciences, and A. G. Shapovalova, PhD in Philology, before merging with the Department of Russian Language. Since 1991, the head of the department has been A. Sh. Aimagambetova, PhD in Philology. Over the years, the department has been headed by L. A. Kashina, PhD in Pedagogical Sciences, G. I. Ungarbaeva, PhD in Philology, and I. I. Sviridova, PhD. Kuzdybaeva A.A., Candidate of Sciences; Tasybaeva G.M., Candidate of Sciences; Baishukurova G.Zh., Candidate of Sciences; Zhuminova A.B., Candidate of Sciences; Idrisova E.T. Currently, the Department of Russian Philology and Intercultural Communication is headed by Candidate of Sciences Abdullina N.U.

Today, the Department of Russian Philology and Intercultural Communication is a unique scientific and methodological center, where highly qualified specialists teach:
