Educational and Scientific Work


    The faculty members of the department are engaged in issues related to professionally oriented education for students of the Faculty of Philology, as well as current topics in the analysis of literary texts, comparative literary studies, functional stylistics, cognitive linguistics, ethno linguistics, and other areas of linguistics and literary studies. The department's academic staff has developed and published monographs, textbooks, educational, and methodological materials on these topics, including:  
Methodological Seminars
    The faculty at the Department is actively adopting innovative pedagogical technologies in the educational process at the Regional Center for Advanced Training of Education Workers (RCAT EW) at Zhubanov University and in the Scientific and Pedagogical Center (SPC) "University-School." They regularly participate in ongoing methodological seminars at the university.
    The Department traditionally organizes international, regional, and republican methodological seminars to expand the application of innovative technologies in teaching Russian language and literature and to facilitate the exchange of experience: an international seminar "Multilingual Personality in Modern Educational Process" in collaboration with Varna Free University "ChernorizetsHrabar" (Bulgaria) in March 2017, a round table on "Modernization of Public Consciousness" (June 2017), a regional methodological seminar "Experience of Implementing Criterion Assessment within the Education Content Update" (November 2017), and a traditional international scientific and practical online seminar "Philology: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow" in December 2017, dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the department veteran, candidate of pedagogical sciences Adorova N.V.dedicated to the 70th anniversary of associate professor, candidate of philological sciences Terekova F.E.

                                                                                                  

                              International Scientific and Practical Conference "Intercultural Communication in the Global Context: Issues of Language, Literature, and Teaching Methodology" (April 2018)
    On October 30, 2020, an educational and methodological online seminar "Experience of Implementing Criterion Assessment within the Education Content Update" was organized. The seminar aimed to identify the features and effective teaching methods and criterion assessment of students in the context of updating the education content, including in online mode. It also facilitated the exchange of experiences among university teachers and school teachers of Russian language and literature regarding the organization of the educational process and the preparation of philology students for teaching practice.
    On November 4, 2022, an educational and methodological seminar "Ways to Improve Functional Literacy in Russian Language and Literature Lessons" was organized. The seminar aimed to identify the features of teaching Russian language and literature and effective ways to develop functional literacy in students in the context of updating the education content. It also facilitated the exchange of experiences among faculty members and teachers of basic secondary schools and branch schools, preparing philology students for teaching practice in the conditions of dual education.
    Traditionally, the Department of Russian Philology and Intercultural Communication organizes the educational coworking session titled “Forms of Assessment in the Context of Updated Educational Content.The purpose of this coworking session is to present a fundamentally new form of organizing innovative pedagogical activities, create an educational space, and facilitate the exchange of experience among university faculty and secondary school teachers of Russian language and literature. It also aims to prepare philology students for teaching practice. Faculty members of the department and teachers from affiliated schools participated in the coworking session.

                                                                                      
   The Educational Coworking Session “Forms of Assessment in the Context of Updated Educational Content,” organized by the Department of Russian Philology and Intercultural Communication for undergraduate and master's degree students of the Faculty of Philology. The event, held as part of the scientific and methodological month, was aimed at providing methodological support to students, sharing experiences on the assessment and measurement of schoolchildren's knowledge during Russian language and literature lessons, and jointly discussing the results of criteria-based assessment in schools to further refine the process.  The educational coworking session concluded with a discussion of the topic, the awarding of certificates, and expressions of gratitude to the organizers of the event.  
    On April 9, 2021, the Department of Russian Philology and Intercultural Communication organized and hosted the International Scientific and Practical Conference titled "Language and Literature in a Multicultural Space: Problems, Ideas, Trends of Development."  The conference was attended by scholars from Iran, Turkey, China, Poland, Russia, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan, as well as participants from Astana, Almaty, and the Aktobe, Mangystau, Atyrau, West Kazakhstan, Almaty, and South Kazakhstan regions. Among the attendees were faculty members of universities in our city, representatives of the regional intelligentsia and media, as well as doctoral students, postgraduate students, and master's degree students.
                                                                                        

                                           International Scientific and Practical Conference "Language and Literature in Multicultural Space: Problems, Ideas, Development Trends" (April 2021).
    On April 17, 2023, a workshop "Innovative Activities of a School and University Teacher" was held. The goal of the workshop was to uncover the specifics of using digital educational tools in school and university teaching practices, teach participants to develop test tasks and interactive exercises.

                                                                                            
    On April 23, 2024, the Department organized the International Scientific and Practical Conference titled "Interaction of Culture, Language, Literature, and Art in Addressing Moral Development in Modern Society." The conference featured participants from Russia, Poland, Uzbekistan, and Bashkortostan.  The plenary session began with the presentation "Ethics and Aesthetics of Speech Acts: The Continuum of 'Culture – Language – Literature – Art' in the Synergy of the Linguo-Rhetorical Approach" by Alexandra Anatolyevna Vorozhbitova, Doctor of Philology and Education, Honorary Worker of Higher Education of the Russian Federation, and Professor of the Department of Romance-Germanic and Russian Philology at Sochi State University, Sochi, Russia.  The session continued with the presentation "Social Marketing as a Tool for Promoting Ideas" by Alexander Konstantinovich Kiklevich, Doctor of Philology and Professor at the Institute of Journalism and Social Communication of the University of Warmia and Mazury, Olsztyn, Poland.

                                                                                            
                            The International Scientific and Practical Conference "Interaction of Culture, Language, Literature, and Art in Addressing Moral Development in Modern Society" (April 2024).

        

    As part of the practice-oriented training of future specialists and the exchange of experience between schools and universities, the Department of Russian Philology and Intercultural Communication opened a branch at the K.Zhubanov University on September 29, 2023, at the Specialized Gymnasium No. 21 named after Al-Farabi in Aktobe. The university delegation, which included the Dean of the Faculty of Philology, B.B. Ertleuova, PhD, Head of the Department of Russian Philology and Intercultural Communication, N.U. Abdullina, and Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Docent of the Department, N.R. Khalimullina, as well as the Deputy Dean for Educational Work, A.S. Umirbayev, and fourth-year students of the program "6B01704 – Russian Language and Literature in Schools with Non-Russian Languages of Instruction," was warmly welcomed and supported in the idea of joint collaboration by the school director, M.K. Toishimanova, and the teachers of the school-gymnasium: N.K. Makhambetova, K.M. Kunakbaeva, and others.    The main objectives of the department's branch are to improve the quality of training specialists with higher and postgraduate education by closely aligning the educational process with real-world production, implementing practice-oriented dual education, conducting joint educational and methodological seminars and coworking sessions, developing and discussing educational modules based on specialization, as well as carrying out scientific research with the involvement of students.

                                                                                                  
    On April 20, 2024, as part of the "Month of Science," Docents of the Department of Russian Philology and Intercultural Communication, A.A. Kuzdybaeva and G.I. Ungarbaeva, conducted a master class titled "Organization of Scientific Work for Schoolchildren" for first- and second-year master's students. The main goal of the master class was to present the modern requirements for organizing scientific research activities for students, establish scientific cooperation, and explore ways for mutually beneficial research activities between scholars, faculty members, and master's students of the department, on one hand, and teachers and schoolchildren, on the other.
                                                                                                  
 

    In October 2024, the Department of Russian Philology and Cross-cultural Communication organized "Pushkin Week/The Week of Pushkin," during which students from schools in Aktobe and Zhubanov University immersed themselves in the world of A.S. Pushkin's poetry. The celebration of the 225th anniversary of A.S. Pushkin was planned for the fall, as autumn held a special place in the poet’s work. Indeed, the Boldino autumn was especially fruitful, as Pushkin’s arrival in Boldino in 1830 became a distinctive starting point for a series of literary works.Each day of the week was dedicated to a different activity. Throughout the week, schools in the city and region held readings of Pushkin's works, while students watched films based on the poet's works at the cinema hall in Student House No. 3. They created quote posters from his writings, participated in various competitions, quizzes, and poetry evenings. 

     On October 10, 2024, faculty members and students of the Faculty of Philology, specializing in "6B01701 - Russian Language and Literature" and "6B01704 - Russian Language and Literature in Schools with Non-Russian Languages of Instruction," immersed themselves in the world of A.S. Pushkin's poetry.  The "Literary Drawing Room," organized by Senior Lecturer, Master T.V. Korobkova, and third-year students of the programs "6B01701 - Russian Language and Literature" and "6B01704 - Russian Language and Literature in Schools with Non-Russian Languages of Instruction," offered all participants and viewers a poetic atmosphere, a sense of inspiration, and indescribable pleasure. In the setting of an autumn landscape carefully created by Senior Lecturer Zh.K. Ergalieva, guests and viewers were transported into the magical autumn season, accompanied by the sounds of P.I. Tchaikovsky's music and the beautiful world of A.S. Pushkin's poetry.

    The Research and Teaching Staff of the Department of Russian Philology and Intercultural Communication, as well as Kazakh Philology, annually participate in grant competitions for fundamental and applied scientific research. They implement scientific and innovative projects on the following topics:

1.    Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor IslamgalievaV.Zh., as part of the working group under the guidance of Sadirova K.K., is working on the implementation of the project "Onomastic Discourse: Mythological Aspect" and is also participating in the working group of the World Bank project "Modernization of Pedagogical Education" for 2021-2022 at Nazarbayev University, HAMK University of Applied Sciences (Finland).

2.    Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor KurmanovaB.Zh. is the head of the project "Ethnolinguistic and Linguistic Situation of Aktobe Region" for the years 2020-2022.

3.    Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor Idrisova E.T., as part of the working group of scientists from L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, is working on the implementation of the project "Scientific Concept of Kazakh Rhetoric: Rhetorical Ideal, Identity, Argumentation, and Speech Practice" for the years 2022-2024.

    In the last five years, the department's scientific arsenal includes: 11 monographs, 8 textbooks, 3 manuals, 1 intra-university project, 1 project of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, 13 publications in journals with non-zero impact factor, and 4 author's certificates.

Annually, the scholars of the department participate in international, republican, and regional scientific conferences, presenting the results of their research and engaging in programs of international funds, grants, and projects.

    The qualitative and rapid growth of the teaching staff in the Department has determined the breadth and diversity of its international connections. Lomonosov, Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO), Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, P. Yershov Ishim State Pedagogical Institute, Altai State University (Barnaul), Institute of History, Language, and Literature of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Ufa, Russia), M. Akhmetov Bashkir State Pedagogical University (Ufa, Russia), Bashkir State University (Ufa, Russia), Ural State Pedagogical University (Yekaterinburg, Russia), and Orenburg State University (Orenburg, Russia).
    The international activities of the Department of Russian Philology and Intercultural Communication are aimed at establishing new educational and cultural connections and strengthening existing scientific relationships with leading foreign universities for further integration into the global educational and scientific community. As part of the implementation of the program "Attracting Foreign Scholars," from October 24 to November 05, 2022, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor of Saint Petersburg State University, Lyudmila VladimirovnaBalakhonskaya, conducts lectures and practical classes on the disciplines "Public Relations" and "Theory and Practice of Creating Advertising Texts" for students of the 4th year of the educational program.

    For several years, the department has been actively collaborating with the Belarusian State Economic University under the signed Memorandum of Understanding. Established in 1933, the Belarusian State Economic University (BSEU) is the leading higher education institution in the country. According to the working program developed for the Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of science and education between Aktobe Regional University named after K. Zhubanov and the Belarusian State Economic University, joint scientific events are organized, joint scientific articles are published, and mutual review of diploma projects and educational materials is conducted. The International Telecommunication Project with the CIS countries, "Russian Language in the Educational Space of the CIS Countries: Culture for Mutual Understanding," has become a tradition. During this project, issues of modern linguistics, literary studies, and language didactics are discussed.

                                                                                                      

    The main idea of the project is to attract attention to the restoration of constructive ties with CIS countries and the preservation of a common educational and humanitarian space in the post-Soviet area. The international telecommunications project, in its dominant activity, is an informationally oriented project. Initially, it is focused on gathering information about a particular object or phenomenon and aims to familiarize other participants with the collected and systematized material.  The goals of the project "Culture for Mutual Understanding" include: introducing the features of the culture and traditions of the participating countries, preserving a unified educational space, strengthening intercultural connections between CIS countries, and identifying the similarities and differences in national traditions and customs.
    On May 15, 2024, the traditional 13th video conference took place with participants of the telecommunications project "Culture for Mutual Understanding," during which were discussed projects on the theme "Folklore of My People". Under the guidance of Professor B.Zh. Kurmanova and Docent G.I. Ungarbaeva, the master's students and students of our faculty prepared fascinating projects First-year master's students in Russian Language and Literature (with Non-Russian Languages of Instruction), D. Akmalai and M. Zinullaeva, presented a project titled "Rhetorical Tradition in the Poetry of Kaztugan Zhyrau," while second-year students A. Beketaeva and A. Otegenova presented "Kazakh Ritual and Household Poetry." Additionally, student A. Temirbekova performed the "Aday" kuy, stunning all participants with the sound of our national instrument, the dombra.
    The videos and social surveys conducted by students from non-linguistic specialties at Moscow universities sparked interest. Belarusian students presented an intriguing project on the topic "The Influence of the Worldview on the Perception of Images in Belarusian Folklore."It is worth noting that the project's constant curator is PhD in Philology E.A. Malashenko.

Academic Mobility

    The Department of Russian Philology and Intercultural Communication successfully implements a program of outgoing and incoming academic mobility for students. This program provides students and master's students the opportunity to study at another university (either domestic or foreign) for one academic period. All earned credits and grades are transferred accordingly. Foreign students also have the opportunity to study at our university under the incoming mobility program.
