OUR CONTRIBUTION TO THE SDGs

SDG 1: NO POVERTY

End poverty in all forms, everywhere

The University provides targeted support for students from socially vulnerable groups, ensuring priority access to accommodation and educational opportunities. These measures help reduce barriers to higher education and contribute to the implementation of SDG 1 – No Poverty.

The number of students receiving social support has steadily increased over recent years.

In 2024, the University did not stand aside and consistently provided all possible assistance to those in need. Around 50 students of Zhubanov University, together with the Aktobe Regional Department of Youth Policy, actively participated in flood-prevention activities as part of the “We Are United” campaign.

The volunteers were involved in the construction of a protective dam in the direction of the village of Kirpishte due to the rising water level in the Ilek River. During the flood-prevention measures on March 31, 2024, the staff of Zhubanov University prepared food boxes for the rescuers of the Department of Emergency Situations and also distributed hot pilaf to municipal service workers who were working in the 11th microdistrict.

Humanitarian centers also assisted with the transportation and delivery of essential goods, as well as the reception and coordination of humanitarian aid arriving from other regions.

University staff, students, and faculty members of the “Food Technology” program provided hot meals to more than 250 specialists working in evacuation zones. To offer psychological support to families in evacuation centers, students and lecturers from the Faculty of Pedagogy and Management conducted psychological training sessions. In addition, over 50 artists and 12 lecturers from the Professional and Creative Faculty organized art-therapy and drawing workshops for children.
